Descrizione

This course is aimed towards enthusiasts who already ski but want to improve their techniques and learn about avalanche search with field trials. Itineraries and routes will combine mountaineering techniques and ski mountaineering.

PROGRAM
The outings will give you hands-on experience with the major ascent techniques in different environmental conditions. Mountain huts will host our theoretical lessons, where you will learn how to plan a mountain hike, how to choose the proper equipment, some basics about snow and information about avalanche self-rescue techniques.
The outings will have a drop between 1,000 m and 1,400 m.
Below is an outline programme.
Day 1
Drop: 200 m
Ascent time: 1-2 hours
Meeting point: meeting in Rhemes Notre Dame (AO) for equipment check and briefing.
After parking the car. we head towards the welcoming Benevolo Hut(2,285 m) where we will spend 2 nights. We will find an area near the hut where to practice using the avalanche transceiver. We will also try and search for one or more people buried in the snow.
Day 2
Drop: 1,600 m
Drop height: 1,060 m
Ascent/descent time: 6-7 hours
We set out from the hut on a long stretch with a gentle slope, up to the Fond Glacier, where the hillside becomes more steep and we must be very careful. We continue until we reach the summit of Punta Galisia (3,346 m). To go back to the Benevolo Hut we can choose a different trail. At the hut, we plan our next outing, have dinner and stay for the night.
Day3
Drop: 1,120 m
Drop height: 1,600 m
Ascent/descent time: 6-8 hours
Leaving at dawn, we head to Granta Parei (3,387 m), the undisputed master of this valley.
Along this technical route you will have the opportunity to put into practice all the various climbing styles. You will also have the ability to assess snow and the surrounding area.
We will go back to the car by the same route.
