Besides the bike rental, the tour includes a route that will guide you through the beautiful Umbrian landscape with its agricultural fields, vineyards, and many olive trees, which are now the symbol of the region of Umbria.
The Day Tour starts on the bike deposit in Rivotorto, close to Assisi. The first stop will be in Santa Maria Degli Angeli where its impressive dome of the Franciscan Basilica is visible from afar. This church encloses the 'Porziuncola', a little church of the 9th century that has high historical and artistic value and it’s one of the most sacred places for the Franciscans as it was there where St Francis and St. Clare started their spiritual lives.
Surrounded by a harmonious alternation of rolling hills, medieval towns, and the seasons' beautiful changing colors, your view opens up to Spello, declared by Emperor Caesar 'Splendidissima Colonia Julia'. This village, one of the most beautiful in Italy, is known for its marvelous alleys and its stone walls, it’s also dotted with colorful flower pots, remnants of the glorious Roman past and famous works of art in palaces and churches from 13th to 17th century. On the journey, you will also cross the historic center and get to Via Degli Olivi (Olive Trees Road) where can be seen the magnificent views of the valley below. Finally, a stop will be made at a family-run organic winery, where the spirits of the true winemakers of the past, along with the grapes’ natural growing and the variety of wine essences and flavors, can be felt. There, you will be able to talk with the winemakers, taste some of their excellent wines and last but not least as a gift, you will take home 1 bottle of their delicious organic wine.
